BNSF Railway Co. recently recognized its 2017 Employees of the Year at an awards ceremony in Fort Worth, Texas.

This year, the Class I recognized 73 of its 41,000 workers for individual and team achievements, BNSF officials said in a press release.

The annual program identifies employees who have made exceptional contributions and whose achievements exemplify the company's vision and values through leadership and focus on safety and efficiency in meeting customer expectations.

The honored employees achieved a range of accomplishments, including the renovation of BNSF's Network Operations Center in Fort Worth; the leadership, performance and execution of Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts; and positive train control (PTC) infrastructure installation.

In addition, 36 employees who led teams that worked throughout the year without a reportable injury were recognized for their safety leaderships.

Also honored were five Safety Employees of the Year, representing the engineering, intermodal business unit operations, mechanical telecommunications and transportation teams. The following BNSF video features those five employees.

"Employees of the Year is where we celebrate the essential role these employees played in our collective achievements of 2017," said President and Chief Executive Officer Carl Ice. "This year, the teams and individuals we recognized worked to improve safety and efficiency, capture new business, and enhance service while having an impact on the lives of those around them."
