BNSF honors sustainability achievements with annual award

BNSF Railway yesterday unveiled the 32 winners of its 2025 BNSF Sustainability Awards.  

Now in its fourth year, the awards are presented annually to companies that attain achievements in sustainability to support innovation and growth. Recipients are recognized in several categories, including investments in sustainable infrastructure, supply chain efficiencies, sustainable technology implementation, sustainability leadership and partnerships.

“We appreciate the powerful commitment of these innovative businesses that have chosen to partner with us and utilize the lowest carbon mode of surface transportation that provide long-term environmental, social and economic benefits,” said BNSF Vice President of Environment and Sustainability John Lovenburg in a press release. 

The railroad aims to be a leader in sustainability practices, such as by developing the next generation of locomotives and testing new technologies that can reduce carbon emissions, BNSF officials said. The Class I is committed to reducing its total air emissions 30% by 2030.
