BNSF Railway last week held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new Oklahoma City intermodal facility, which began operations on Dec. 31, 2025.

The 42-acre site provides Hobby Lobby Stores Inc. with a more efficient option for shipping inbound containers from the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to the retailer's network of distribution centers in Oklahoma city, BNSF officials said in a press release.

At full capacity, the intermodal facility could eliminate up to 40,000 truck trips on highways each year, they added. In the future, BNSF officials anticipate providing West Coast export services out of the site to other businesses and Oklahoma farmers.
