The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio has approved construction authorization from the Ohio Rail Development Commission for the installation of flashing lights and gates at four grade crossings.

Norfolk Southern Railway will upgrade the Burger Street crossing in Lucas County, and Main Street and State Route 590 crossings in Rocky Ridge. In addition, the West Road crossing will be closed. Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway Co. will upgrade the Medina Line Road/County Road 2 crossing in Sharon Township.

The railroads must complete all work by March 20, 2013. Funding for all the upgrades will be covered by federal dollars.
