RailComm installs remote-control yard automation system at chemical shipper's Alabama plant

RailComm Inc. recently installed and cut over a remote-control yard automation system at INEOS-Phenol’s Mobile, Ala., chemical plant.

The system features a point-to-point wireless data communication network — based on RailComm’s RADiANT™ Data Radio technology — to link on-board radios and power switches, and provide control of all yard switches from a locomotive cab. The system’s solar panels are designed to be quickly disconnected and stored during high winds.

INEOS-Phenol installed the system to reduce the time crews spend manually throwing switches.

RailComm markets machine-to-machine command, control, communication and information solutions to North American freight and passenger railroads, and other industries.
