CN and four shopcraft unions in the United States have reached agreements calling for paid sick leave, the Class I announced March 3 on Facebook.

The agreements call for four paid sick leave days and up to three personal leave days to be used as sick days.

The four unions that negotiated the agreements with CN are: the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers; National Conference of Firemen and Oilers; International Association of Sheet, Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers Mechanical Department; and International Brotherhood of Boilermakers and Blacksmiths.

CN is the latest Class I to announced new paid sick leave agreements with rail unions. CSX, Norfolk Southern Railway and Union Pacific Railroad also have announced paid sick leave agreements.

Meanwhile, Unifor Local 100 and Council 4000 members who work at CN recent voted "overwhelmingly" in support of a strike action, Unifor announced March 5. The Class I and unions are negotiating a collective agreement to replace the one that expired Dec. 31, 2022.
