CN set a new monthly record for grain movements in November, transporting over 3.28 million metric tons of grain from western Canada in the month.
The record surpasses the previous all-time high from November 2020 by 230,000 metric tons. November marked the third consecutive month of increased grain movement for the Class I, CN officials said in a press release.
Meanwhile, CN is continuing to execute its 2025-2026 winter operations plan as cold weather hits the region, company officials said. The plan is annually presented to Transport Canada to explain how the railroad has prepared for cold temperatures and winter precipitation.
Over the past decade, improvements to CN's grain transportation operations, such as the renewal of its hopper car fleet and changes to how grain handling facilities' tracks are built, have resulted in increased grain movement, CN officials said in the 2025 winter plan.
