CN yesterday announced it will spend $110 million on track maintenance and infrastructure projects in Wisconsin as part of its 2025 capital expenditures program.
The investments in infrastructure, technology and capacity, along with other network improvements, will help ensure the safe movement of goods and support long-term sustainable growth in Chicago and across the railroad's network, CN officials said in a press release.
“CN's investment in Wisconsin infrastructure supports safer crossings and more reliable service statewide," said Wisconsin Commissioner of Railroads Don Vruwink in the press release.
CN employs 1,197 people and operates 988 route miles of track in Wisconsin. Last year, the Class I also spent $110 million on projects in Wisconsin, including $3.5 million for new equipment as part of a multiyear fleet renewal program, and $1.5 million for operational upgrades at its yard in Stevens Point.
