Yesterday, Canadian Pacific announced it’s now shipping crude oil from a new transload facility near Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. The facility, which accommodates the initial transload and transportation needs of NuStar Energy L.P., will be expanded later this year, CP officials said in a prepared statement.

Operated by Torq Transloading, the transload center enables CP to transport crude oil to NuStar's terminals in the U.S. Northeast and Gulf Coast.

“Moving Canadian crude through CP's North American network is a great complement to our asset base, which includes terminals and a large and expanding fleet of 1,700 coiled and insulated rail cars," said NuStar President and Chief Executive Officer Curt Anastasio.

In addition to the Lloydminster facility, CP continues to transport crude oil from other transload facilities in Saskatchewan and Alberta. CP is the only North American railroad to serve the Alberta Industrial Heartland, Bakken Formation and Marcellus Shale, and the only Class I to connect energy hubs in Alberta, Saskatchewan and the U.S. Midwest to the U.S. Northeast, CP officials said.
