Chalk up another intermodal service-level agreement for Canadian Pacific. Yesterday, the Class I announced it signed such a pact with TSI Terminal Systems Inc. that builds on the parties’ productivity and performance agreement reached in June 2010.

The new three-year pact outlines key performance indicators for the flow of import and export containers through the Vancouver, British Columbia, gateway. A GCT Global Container Terminals Inc. subsidiary, TSI is Canada’s largest container terminal operator and handles more than 70 percent of the containerized cargo moving through the gateway.

Meeting performance targets will improve productivity, enhance reliability and boost efficiency, according to CP. The Class I now has reached six collaboration agreements with intermodal supply-chain stakeholders during the past year.

Meanwhile, CP also announced an executive team change prompted by Ed Harris' decision to retire April 1. Mike Franczak, currently senior vice president of operations, will succeed Harris as executive VP of operations.

Harris, who will serve as an advisor to Franczak through 2011, joined CP in 2010. Several years ago, he retired from CN as EVP of operations after serving CN and the Illinois Central Railroad for 38 years.

“Ed's leadership has paved the way for refinements of yard processes, which improve service reliability for the benefit of CP's customers and supply chain partners," said CP President and Chief Executive Officer Fred Green in a prepared statement.

Franczak joined CP in 1987 after serving as a geologist in the Canadian exploration industry. He has held various senior railway operating positions and been a member of CP's Executive Committee the past three years.
