CSX cuts over 160 management positions

CSX has announced it streamlined its management structure by eliminating 166 management positions, or about 5% of the management workforce.

The decision to eliminate the positions follows a thorough evaluation of current market conditions and the company’s cost structure, according to an email from Austin Staton, CSX's director of media relations.

The Class I is offering competitive severance packages and employment transition services to support impacted employees, he said.

CSX employs 23,000 people nationwide, including more than 3,000 management employees. About 56% of the management team is based in Jacksonville, Florida.
