Fauth, Fortson join National Mediation Board

The National Mediation Board (NMB) has named two new board members: Gerald Fauth III and Kyle Fortson.

Fauth, who was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on Nov. 2, will succeed Harry Hoglander as the board's chairman. Hoglander left the board Nov. 9.

Linda Puchala remains on the board, according to an NMB press release.

Fauth has 40 years of experience in the private sector and federal government working on economic, regulatory, public policy and legislative issues related to transportation. His experience includes a stint at the U.S. Surface Transportation Board, where he worked for more than three years as chief of staff and senior adviser to a board member.

Fortson received Senate confirmation on Nov. 2 and assumed her position on the NMB yesterday. Immediately prior to joining the NMB, Fortson served as labor policy director at the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. She worked directly for the committee Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.)

The National Mediation Board is an independent federal agency established by the Railway Labor Act, which governs labor-management relations of nearly 500 railroads and 100 airlines in the United States and U.S. territories.
