The Surface Transportation Board (STB) announced this week it’s allowing supplemental written comments and extending the period for ex parte communications regarding its proposed reciprocal switching rule.

The action follows a two-day hearing held last week on the matter. The supplemental comments must be limited to issues raised at the hearing or in written materials submitted in response to the board’s Dec. 28, 2021, notice, according to an STB press release.

The written comments are due April 4, while the period for ex parte communications will close April 22.

Also this week, the STB announced additional instructions in preparation for its April 4 evidentiary hearing regarding Amtrak’s application to operate service in the Gulf Coast. Those instructions can be read here.
