The Transportation Security Administration (TSA), in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, announced the federal mandate that requires the wearing of face masks on U.S. transportation networks has been extended to March 18, 2022.
Those networks include airports, commercial aircraft, over-the-road buses, and commuter bus and rail systems.
Exemptions to the rule include travelers under 2 years old and those with disabilities that prevent them from wearing a face mask.
Civil penalty fines for violating the mandate will stay in effect.
