Early next year, the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and International Union of Railways (UIC) will host three regional seminars on high-speed rail.
“International Practicum on Implementing High Speed Rail in the United States,” the seminars will be held Feb. 8-9 in Washington, D.C.; Feb. 9-11 in Chicago; and Feb. 11-13 in Los Angeles. The programs will feature officials from high-speed rail systems around the world, and focus on best practices and lessons learned from European and Asian systems. The curriculum will be tailored to the different issues in each city, according to APTA.
This is the first set of seminars developed under a new partnership between APTA and the UIC. The two groups will “engage in extensive information sharing that can cover the various technical, marketing, finance and management aspects of high-speed rail systems,” according to a prepared statement.
