On Jan. 12, Russian Railways marked the one-month anniversary of the Allegro high-speed rail service between St. Petersburg, Russia, and Helsinki, Finland. In its first month of operation, the high-speed service transported more than 23,000 passengers.

During the New Year’s holiday, average seat occupancy was about 83 percent, totaling almost 100 percent on some trips.

Russian Railways operates two trains daily on the line. The service has cut trip time between St. Petersburg and Helsinki from six hours, 18 minutes to about three hours, 30 minutes.
