The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) earlier this week announced the completion of its newest grade separation at Corcoran Highway, just northeast of State Route 43 in Kings County. Located between Fourth and Orange avenues, it is the second completed high-speed rail structure in the county.
The overpass spans an existing canal, Fifth and Orange Avenues, and the authority's future high-speed rail tracks.
There are now 61 structures completed across the first 119 miles of high-speed rail construction in the Central Valley; an additional 27 structures are underway across Madera, Fresno, Kings and Tulare counties, with four more in the planning stages, CHSRA officials said in a press release.
Work continues on the high-speed rail project, with major segments from Merced to Bakersfield under design and construction. Nearly 90 miles of guideway are complete.
