The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) is seeking public comments on its draft environmental impact statement (DEIS) for the forthcoming 30-mile segment between Los Angeles and Anaheim.
The public comment period will end Feb. 3, 2026. The DEIS contains an overview of two buildout alternatives, which differ by location of a light maintenance facility. The authority's preferred alternative calls for the facility to be located at 26th Street in Vernon, 5 miles south of downtown Los Angeles.
The second alternative puts the facility at 15th Street in Los Angeles. The second alternative also includes plans for a stop at either the Norwalk and Santa Fe Springs Metrolink station or the Fullerton Metrolink and Amtrak station, CHSRA officials said in a press release. The DEIS also includes a no-build alternative.
Los Angeles-Anaheim is the southernmost link of the first phase of the state's future high-speed rail system. It will connect Los Angeles Union Station to the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center, following an existing rail corridor that carries freight and passengers between the two cities.
All draft environmental documents and studies, registration for public hearings and further instructions on how to submit comments can be found on the CHSRA's project section environmental document webpage.
