California launches new website to track high-speed rail project

The California High-Speed Rail Authority has launched BuildHSR.com, a new website that provides updates about the 119 miles of construction underway in the state's Central Valley.

The site will be updated regularly with road and construction alerts, photos, videos construction milestones and events, CHSRA officials said in a press release.

The website also features an interactive construction map. The site is compatible in desktop browsers and mobile devices.

Since construction began more than a year ago, the high-speed rail project now has 11 active sites, with more to come this fall, according to the new site.

Meanwhile, CHSRA officials today will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the re-opening of the Tuolumne Street Bridge in downtown Fresno, California.

The bridge marks the first completed structure in the high-speed rail project's first construction package, which is a 32-mile segment between Madera and Fresno counties.

In January 2016, a design-build contractor Tutor-Perini/Zachry/Parsons demolished the road bridge to make way for construction of a higher bridge to provide clearance over existing Union Pacific Railroad track and the high-speed rail alignment.
