HNTB appoints high-speed group leader Gertler as SVP

HNTB Corp. and HNTB Holdings Ltd. has named Peter Gertler senior vice president. Based in HNTB’s Oakland, Calif., office, he leads the engineering firm’s high-speed rail services group.
Gertler has 23 years of experience in public transportation and program management, including conventional and high-speed rail across the United States and around the world. Since joining HNTB in 2004, he has worked as a project manager on a number of high-profile projects, and led the firm’s rail and transit practices.
Gertler is an executive board member, and president emeritus and board member of the Association for California High-Speed Rail; a program chair for the American Public Transportation Association’s High-Speed and Intercity Rail Committee; a member of the High-Speed Rail Development Council for the American Road and Transportation Builders Association; board member of the International Air Rail Organization; and member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.
