Mica says he's willing to compromise with Amtrak on NEC high-speed proposal

After unveiling a proposal in May to transfer ownership of the Northeast Corridor (NEC) from Amtrak to a private entity and launching a bid process to develop “true” high-speed rail service on the corridor, Rep. John Mica (R-Fla.) is changing his tune.
At a U.S. High Speed Rail Association conference held in New York City yesterday, the chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee said he is willing to compromise on his plan to launch faster rail service on the NEC. Mica plans to work with Amtrak to advance that plan, according to an Associated Press article.
