On Sept. 6, NS Hispeed launched operations on a new high-speed rail line between Amsterdam and Rotterdam in The Netherlands.

The nation's high-speed rail operator, NS Hispeed is leasing Bombardier TRAXX locomotives from Angel Trains Cargo for the line. The locomotives will travel at speeds up to 100 mph between Amsterdam Central Station, Schiphol Airport and Rotterdam Central Station, shortening the travel time between Amsterdam and Rotterdam to 43 minutes.

The TRAXX locomotive operates under four different voltage systems and features Bombardier's EBI Cab 2000 automatic train protection system.
