Alstom’s high-speed Allegro (Pendolino Sm6) train recently arrived at the VNIIZhT test loop owned by the Russian Railways for preliminary and certification testing.
Over the next month, Alstom will make adjustments to the train’s electrical system, undercarriage and braking system, running at speeds up to 74.5 mph. Test runs also will be conducted on the October Railway, gradually increasing the speed to 124 mph.
Before certification trials begin, Russian Railways will conduct 1,553.4 miles of test runs, railway officials said in a prepared statement.
Calibration, preliminary and certification tests will be conducted from July through November on the St. Petersburg-to-Vyborg and Vyborg-to-Helsinki lines, in addition to the test loop.
