Tomorrow, Botniabanan AB will open the new high-speed Botnia Line in Sweden, the first rail line in the Nordic region to operate with ERTMS/ETCS Level 2 functionality, according to Bombardier Transportation.

Bombardier has supplied its BOMBARDIER INTERFLO 450 rail control system for the new line, which will operate on the northeast coast of Sweden between Nyland and Gimonas. The supplier provided trackside products, including wayside and onboard automatic train protection systems.

Trains will operate on the 120-mile line at speeds up to 250 kph. The line features 22 stations, 143 bridges and 15 miles of tunnels.
