Texas Central Railway reveals two possible sites for Dallas bullet-train station

Texas Central Railway (TCR), a private Texas company that has proposed a bullet-train passenger service between Dallas and Houston, today announced two possible station sites in Dallas.

TCR identified seven possible locations as part of the firm's environmental review process, and today highlighted two as the preferred locations: a site on undeveloped land on the city's south side in the Lamar area, which includes 10 to 20 acres for the station parking and a transit-oriented development; and a site that would extend over Interstate 30 and includes a portion of the first candidate site, as well as property next to the Dallas Convention Center.

"The two sites best meet the criteria of connectivity, accessibility, visibility, cost, customer service, ease of parking and future economic development surrounding the station," TCR Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Lawless said in a prepared statement.

TCR also confirmed that Texas Central Partners (TCP) — an independent development company that will be responsible for the high-speed rail system’s design, finance, construction, operation and maintenance — reached an agreement with Matthews Southwest to serve as the development partner of the Dallas station and surrounding areas for transit oriented development.

Preferred locations for the Houston station have not yet been announced.
