The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) will host three meetings next week on the proposed Dallas-to-Fort Worth Core Express service, a proposed 32-mile high-speed rail line between the two cities.

TxDOT and the FRA will solicit public comments on the line's potential routes, station locations and environmental impacts as part of the rail line's federal Environmental Impact Statement. The meetings will be held Nov. 18, 19 and 20.

"Receiving feedback from the public will provide TxDOT and the FRA with the information needed to conduct a thorough environmental and economic assessment of the project," Bill Meadows, chairman of the Commission for High-Speed Rail in the Dallas/Fort Worth region, said in a press release. "The transparency of the public comment period will also ensure all federal and state guidelines are met for this proposal."

TxDOT is leading the effort to develop the environmental study. Although there have been some discussions about the service stopping at stations in downtown Dallas, Arlington/DFW Airport and downtown Fort Worth, specific station locations have not yet been determined, TxDOT officials said.

Public comments on the proposed service will be accepted online until Dec. 15.
