CSXI adds trailer service, extends gate deadlines for Florida customers

Earlier this week, CSX Intermodal (CSXI) expanded its service options in Florida.

The company now offers a trailer service, in addition to container service, from Atlanta to Orlando. The service is available for private trailers owned or leased by companies other than CSXI.

The company also expanded gate deadlines for traffic moving from the western gateway of Memphis, Tenn., to Orlando.

"This additional flexibility complements our existing services to the important Florida market,” said CSXI President Jim Hertwig in a prepared statement. “Customers can leverage additional efficiencies with their equipment, and take further advantage of existing key lanes, such as Savannah to Orlando."

CSXI operates intermodal terminals in Jacksonville, Orlando and Tampa, and shares terminals in other key Florida locations. The company recently received virtually all necessary permits to build a terminal in Winter Haven. Additional business in Orlando will be transitioned to the new Winter Haven terminal after it’s completed in 2010, Hertwig said.
