Chile’s Santiago Metro recently launched service on Line 4A, which connects the La Cisterna and Vicuna Mackenna stations.

Constructed by Balfour Beatty Rail Ltd., the 4.3-mile, seven-station line is expected to serve 65,000 passengers daily. The segment is the second line Balfour Beatty has built for the agency since June 2004. The contractor now will be responsible for maintaining the two lines, which total 20.5 miles, for the next two years.
