The Duluth Seaway Port Authority (DPSA) has named Deb DeLuca executive director.The first woman to helm the authority, DeLuca has served as DPSA's government and environmental affairs director since 2014.In that role, she tracked regulatory issues and legislation for the authority, the Port of Duluth-Superior and the Great Lakes-Seaway system. Currently, DeLuca chairs the Harbor Technical Advisory Committee for the Duluth-Superior Metropolitan Interstate Council and serves on the executive committee of the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce.She was a founding board member of Minnesota Brownfields, a nonprofit organization aimed at promoting cleanup and reuse of contaminated lands."Not only does Deb DeLuca possess the management expertise we were seeking, but she also is heavily invested in this community," said Tony Sertich, DSPA commissioner and search committee chair, in a press release. "She is a person who values collaboration and takes into account the opinions of all stakeholders. Those connections will undoubtedly help inform strategic planning and decision-making here at the port authority going forward."The Port of Duluth-Superior is served by BNSF Railway Co., CN, Canadian Pacific and Union Pacific Railroad.Meanwhile, the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners appointed Casey Hehr to lead the Port of Long Beach security division.He previously served as the port's assistant director of security. Since March, Hehr has been the division's acting director following the retirement of the previous director, Port of Long Beach officials said in a press release.Before his time at the port, Hehr served with the U.S. Coast Guard for more than two decades, retiring as chief of operations and response for the Los Angeles-Long Beach sector. The Port of Long Beach is served by BNSF, UP and Pacific Harbor Line Inc.
