The Intermodal Transportation Institute (ITI) at the University of Denver recently elected James Benz and Gary Long to three-year board terms.

Since 2005, Benz has served as chief operating officer of Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (GWI). He previously was president of GWI’s Rail Link Region — which he founded in 1987 — for eight years. Benz has more than 35 years of rail industry experience, including various positions with the Seaboard Coast Line and CSX Transportation.

Long is president and chief executive officer of OmniTRAX Inc. He previously was senior vice president-commercial and supply chain management for Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics, and president and chief operating officer for its Distribution Auto Services subsidiary. Long also held various executive positions with AMLI Holding Inc., Allied Holdings/Alexis Group and Norfolk Southern Corp.

“Their extensive range of industry experience brings tremendous value to our leadership, which now numbers more than 50 members,” said George Woodward, ITI board president and president of Clouds Hill Capital Inc., in a prepared statement. “It also speaks to the broad support ITI is receiving from key business management leaders from all modes of transportation as the challenges of creating global, supply-chain efficiencies continue to grow.”

ITI’s board also announced that Mark Yeager will serve as vice chairman and continue to chair the communications committee. He is vice chairman, president and COO of Hub Group Inc.
