The Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) and Lineage Inc., a temperature-controlled warehouse real estate investment trust, are partnering to improve food product imports at the port.
Lineage's Jourdan Road facility in New Orleans East has been certified as a Class 3 Public Bonded Warehouse, the company and port announced today in a press release. The Jourdan Road facility offers onsite U.S. Department of Agriculture inspections of imported food and customs bonded storage, allowing goods to be stored under U.S. Customs supervisions until duties and tariffs are paid. These services help importers more efficiently move food products into the country by streamlining inspections of perishable goods, company and port officials said.
The 300,000-square-foot facility is located on the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal, which connects the Mississippi River with Lake Pontchartrain in Louisiana. Lineage benefits from Port NOLA's deep water access and six Class I connections via the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad, Lineage officials said.
Meanwhile, Port NOLA also reported cargo volume growth in the first half of 2025. Port officials attributed the increase to rising container imports and improved schedule reliability. Through the first six months of 2025, container volumes rose 2% year over year, and increased 9% from the second half of 2024.
The port has moved 263,961 20-foot equivalent units so far in 2025, port officials said. The port has a new feeder service this year, leading to more consistent on-time arrivals of port calls. The schedule reliability, now sitting at 83%, has contributed to a better inflow of containers, port officials said in a press release.
