South Carolina Ports (SC Ports) handled 230,150 20-foot equivalent units of cargo in August, a 16% increase over August 2024, or a total of 126,340 pier containers.
The ports' continued investments in rail infrastructure are yielding growth at both Inland Port Greer and Inland Port Dillon, port officials said in an press release. Greer handled 18,433 rail moves in August, and Dillon handled 4,738 rail moves — an all-time record for Dillon. In August, 25% of containers were moved by rail.
SC Ports is served by Norfolk Southern Railway and CSX, along with the ports' short-line service provider, Palmetto Railways.
