The Port of Vancouver USA on July 13 marked the 1 millionth Subaru vehicle to cross its docks since 1993.

The 1 millionth Subaru — a 2015 Forester — was one of 2,077 vehicles that arrived at the Washington state port last Sunday after a two-week journey from Japan. Representatives from the port, Subaru of America and various carriers, stevedores, transportation providers and other logistics partners celebrated the milestone. At the port, Subarus are loaded onto trucks bound for Northwest dealers or onto BNSF Railway Co. trains for shipments bound to farther destinations.

Subaru of America signed its first lease with the port in December 1992 and the first vehicle reached the dock in January 1993. The port and Subaru recently agreed to continue partnering through 2035. Automobile imports generate the most revenue of commodities handled at the port.

"Our 21-year partnership with Subaru is not only important to us here at the port, but also to the community. Roughly $300 from every vehicle delivered to the port gets reinvested in Washington and Oregon," said Todd Coleman, the port's chief executive officer, in a press release.
