The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has awarded $8 million in grants to help transit agencies and communities integrate "mobility on demand" solutions. The grants are designed to help agencies use technology to improve their services. For example, the Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon will receive a $678,000 grant to add shared-use mobility options like taxi services and Uber into its existing mobile app. The agency also will share its data with shared-use mobility providers to help address first- and last-mile issues when traveling by transit. In addition, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) will receive $1.2 million to integrate ride-sharing services into its GoPass ticketing app. This project is aimed at creating an integrated, multimodal application that leverages ride-sharing services and improves access to DART stations, particularly in non-walkable areas.A full list of grant awardees can be found here.
