The Virginia Department of Rail & Public Transportation (DRPT) seeks a qualified individual to provide executive leadership and management of all DRPT freight and passenger rail transportation initiatives including planning studies, program management, grants administration and project development/delivery. This position is responsible for managing a $1.2 billion 6- year program of freight and passenger rail projects and functions as a member of the executive management team responsible for advancing the agency’s mission and achieving agency goals. Successful candidates will have strong experience managing complex programs of transportation projects through all phases of project development and delivery and will have a thorough understanding of transportation planning and programing processes. A Master’s degree in public administration, transportation planning, transportation management, or related field or equivalent experience, education and/or training is required; with progressively responsible management experience in the transportation field. The position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with considerable experience interacting with elected officials, senior government officials, business representatives and the public.
