Yesterday, Kansas City Southern announced it promoted or reassigned several executives.

The Class I promoted Oscar Del Cueto from vice president of transportation to VP of operations for Kansas City Southern de México S.A. de C.V. (KCSM). He will report to KCSM President and Executive Representative Jose Zozaya and “closely coordinate” with Kansas City Southern Railway Co. (KCSR) Senior VP of Operations David Ebbrecht, KCS officials said in a prepared statement. Del Cueto joined KCSM in 1997 and since has held various transportation positions.

KCS also appointed Daniel Torres general superintendent of transportation for KCSM. Formerly KCSR’s southeast division superintendent, Torres will report to Del Cueto. Torres joined the Texas Mexican Railway Co. in 1997 and since has held several transportation positions with Tex Mex and KCSR.

In addition, as previously announced, former KCSM SVP of Operations William Nolen will assume duties as KCS executive representative, reporting to KCS President and Chief Operating Officer David Starling. The engineering, mechanical and information technology departments will report directly to Starling.

“These changes are intended to support our efforts to achieve continuous operating performance improvements, greater synergies and economies of scale between the two railroads,” said Starling.
