The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) has reached a tentative five-year labor agreement with the Western New York and Pennsylvania Railroad (WNYP).

If approved by BLET members, the agreement would provide a guaranteed 40-hour work week, a signing bonus and general wage increases each year through the life of the agreement, BLET officials said in a press release. The pact also includes improvements to holiday pay, paid time off and other provisions.

Ballots have been sent to voting members and are due Nov. 11.

Members governed by the tentative agreement belong to BLET's short-line division. The WNYP operates across southwest New York and northwest Pennsylvania.
