BLET members approve Tacoma Rail agreement

Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers & Trainmen (BLET) members recently ratified a new agreement with Tacoma Rail.

The pact provides retroactive pay from 2017 to 2025, includes general wage increases for 2026 to 2029, establishes an additional paid holiday for Juneteenth and addresses work rule provisions.

Tacoma Rail is publicly owned and operated by the city of Tacoma, Washington, as a self-supported public utility. The short line operates 14 miles of track and provides switching services for the Port of Tacoma.

Medical insurance for BLET-represented Tacoma Rail workers mirrors that of other city employees, union officials said in a press release. BLET’s Division 238 in Tacoma represents members from both BNSF Railway and Tacoma Rail.

“The Tacoma Rail agreement was reached after nine years of dedicated effort,” said BLET Vice President James Logan Jr.
