Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen members on Dec. 30, 2025, ratified a new five-year collective bargaining agreement with the National Carriers Conference Committee (NCCC), the bargaining arm of the National Railway Labor Conference.

The contract covers more than 12,000 BLET members working at 10 freight railroads, including BNSF Railway, Norfolk Southern Railway and CN. The contract was approved by 70% of voting members, BLET officials said in a press release. BLET did not disclose how many total members participated in the vote.

The tentative agreement, which was reached on Oct. 30, 2025, includes general wage increases of 18.8% over five years, a one-time $500 lump sum payment, improvements to vacation accrual and no increase to out-of-pocket costs for health care. There are no concessions or work rule changes in the agreement, said BLET National President Mark Wallace.

BLET was the last of the 12 rail unions that negotiated with the NCCC to reach a tentative agreement, union officials said. The wage increases and other benefits will begin to roll out over the next 60 days, union officials said.
