CN police ratify new contract; BMWED organizes SunRail MOW workers

CN announced yesterday that members of the Canadian National Railway Police Association (CNRPA) have ratified a new collective agreement with the Class I.

The agreement is effective Jan. 1, 2018, through Dec. 31, 2023. It covers CN police officers across Canada.

"The new agreement, its strong ratification and the process of negotiating it underscore the effectiveness of the dialogue our association has with the company. That being said, this would never have been possible without our members' ongoing support," said CNRPA National Secretary Wayne Telcs in a press release.

Meanwhile, Bombardier Transportation maintenance-of-way (MOW) employees working on Florida's SunRail commuter-rail line voted last week to join the Allied Federation/Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes Division (BMWED).

The 20-member MOW group is based in Sanford, Florida. Official certification of the vote is expected this week, BMWED officials said in a press release.
