United Transportation Union (UTU)-represented maintenance-of-way workers at Missouri & Northern Arkansas Railroad recently ratified their first collective bargaining agreement. The employees chose the UTU as their bargaining representative in January.

Owned by RailAmerica Inc., Missouri & Northern Arkansas operates 530 miles of track in Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri.

In late May, the UTU also notched its 30th organizing win in 53 months when train and engine employees at the San Luis & Rio Grande Railroad voted in favor of being represented by the union.

Owned by Iowa Pacific Holdings L.L.C., the 150-mile short line operates track in Colorado from Walsenburg, over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains at La Veta Pass, and into the valley of the San Luis and Rio Grande rivers.
