A&R Logistics Inc. yesterday officially opened its new export facility at the West Branch Commerce Park in Moncks Corner, South Carolina.

Designated as a CSX Select Site, the 615,000-square-foot facility was developed in cooperation with the South Carolina Ports Authority and the state. A&R will use the facility to prepare for exporting and importing plastic resin and other products for large chemical companies.

"With two high-speed packaging lines, sea bulk operations, liquid transload capability, rail service via CSX and proximity to the Port of Charleston, we provide supply chain solutions specifically engineered for the chemical industry," said A&R President Chris Ball in a press release.

Track runs along the building's south side where product will be offloaded from rail cars.

CSX Select Sites are certified rail-served locations for industrial development and expansion. Select Site certification criteria include size, access to rail service, proximity to highways, workforce availability, natural gas, electricity, water and wastewater, and environmental and geo-technical standards, according to the Class I's website.
