Earlier this week, Global Railway Industries Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer Terry McManaman said the firm’s improving finances had positioned the company to resume a growth strategy calling for product line expansions and acquisitions. Chalk one up for acquisitions.

Yesterday, Global Railway announced subsidiary G & B Specialties Inc. acquired ESSCO’s rail-gear product line, including all patents, designs, drawings and equipment.

ESSCO supplies rail gear for heavy duty trucks weighing up to 60,000 pounds. Because G & B offers rail gear for light- and medium-duty trucks, the deal will enable the company to market a complete product line, Global Railway said.

"We estimate the heavy duty rail-gear market in North America to be about $10 million in sales annually," said McManaman in a prepared statement.

Through subsidiaries Bach-Simpson Corp. and Prime Railway Services, Global Railway also supplies event recorder monitoring/control systems, train speedometers, track and signal components, and rail-car doors and replacement parts.
