Ozburn-Hessey Logistics (OHL) recently acquired Lanter Logistics and Lanter Refrigerated Distributing, making OHL the country's eight-largest third-party logistics provider.

With the acquisition, OHL now controls 17 million square feet of warehouse space in 20 states and expects to move more than 500 million pounds of freight this year.

OHL will be headquartered in Nashville. Scott McWilliams will continue to serve as chief executive officer; Lanter President and CEO Steve Lanter will serve OHL as executive vice president.

"By combining Lanter with OHL, we believe we have created a company [that's] able to meet the unique needs of manufacturers in the food and confectionery, pharmaceutical, consumer products and retail industries," said McWilliams in a prepared statement.

OHL provides warehousing, distribution, real-estate development, personnel staffing, transportation management, material handling and fulfillment services. Lanter provides temperature-controlled logistics and storage services.
