Savage announced yesterday it has expanded its transload network by acquiring the transloading business of Cascade Warehouse Co. (CWC), which handles more than 3,000 rail cars annually.

CWC operates transload and warehousing centers in Salem and Junction City, Oregon, and Chehalis, Washington, Savage officials said in a news release.

Access to the Savage Transload Network will strengthen supply chains for commodities that need to be transported to the Pacific Northwest, they said.

Historically a lumber transload facility, CWC offers multicommodity transloading services, lumber cutting and packaging, and storage solutions for building and industrial products, consumer goods and packaging materials.

"We’re excited to integrate Cascade Warehouse Co.’s operations into our Savage Transload Network, which includes the operation of more than 50 transload terminals across North America," said Jason Ray, president of Savage’s infrastructure sector.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
