The Railroad Co. Inc. and wholly owned subsidiary WV Southern Railway Co. jointly filed a notice of exemption with Surface Transportation Board to acquire from CSX Transportation a 12-mile line between Thurmond and Mt. Hope, W.Va.

Last month, The Railroad Co. reached an agreement with CSXT to purchase the line, subject to STB approval.

The Railroad Co. plans to establish WV Southern as a new Class III carrier to operate the line.
