Bombardier adds predictive maintenance program to service offerings

Bombardier Transportation recently launched ORBITA, a new predictive maintenance program for transit-rail agencies.

The program is designed to help transit operators improve fleet utilization, reliability and availability, and reduce in-service failures. To be offered as a technical support service under Bombardier’s maintenance contracts, ORBITA will enable agencies to proactively plan for and manage maintenance activities. Through the program, Bombardier will monitor HVAC systems, doors, brakes, closed-circuit televisions, and propulsion and electrical equipment.

Bombardier currently is providing ORBITA under a diesel multiple unit maintenance contract with the United Kingdom’s First ScotRail.
