High-speed intercity passenger-rail provider Brightline yesterday announced its new "Bright Orange 2" train arrived at the company’s vehicle maintenance facility in Orlando, Florida, on Feb 19.
The train traveled to Orlando after leaving Siemens Mobility’s rolling stock facility in Sacramento, California, Brightline officials said in a press release.
The train completes Brightline’s fleet of 10 trains and is the last of five new units to arrive in Florida in the past 18 months in preparation for the opening of the Brightline Orlando Station, company officials added.
Bright Orange 2, which consists of two locomotives and four coaches, weighs 643 tons and measures 556 feet long. An extra locomotive also arrived with the train, which will be used to replace locomotives that are undergoing repair or maintenance.
The Orlando project that will connect the city to Miami is 90% complete, Brightline officials said.
