Rail News: Maintenance Of Way
From July 8-14, CSX Transportation plans to build the “Elmont Crossover,” a state-funded project in Ashland, Va.
The railroad is working with the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT), Virginia Department of Transportation, town of Ashland and Hanover County on the project, which includes installing crossovers and switches near Elmont Road.
Part of DRPT’s $65 million program designed to expand rail capacity between Washington, D.C., and Richmond, Va., the Elmont Crossover also calls for activating and testing signals, and tying in track to CSXT’s mainline.
