advertisement
The transit ridership records keep coming. The latest record-setter? The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), which announced it carried an all-time-high 375 million passengers in fiscal-year 2008.
The rider count is 6 percent higher than the agency's FY2007 ridership and shatters the previous record set in 2001, when MBTA carried 354 million passengers. The agency recorded the largest ridership increases on its light-rail and bus systems.
